This historic photo provided by Charles Bragdon, Jr. of Standish shows what the natural beach at Wards Cove on Sebago Lake looked like in the 1930s. Mr. Bragdon states: "Please notice that the boat in the distance (to the right of the child) sits on a very gentle beach slope. Also notice the very wide beach area."

This photo shows the same beach area in 2007. Mr. Bragdon states: "I am very disappointed that the beach area has lost more than two feet of sand at its midpoint. "

Mr. Bragdon states: "A two foot high ledge outcrop, plus smaller outcrops have become exposed near our cottage. These were previously covered with sand, providing for safe boat landings. One of our boat landings can no longer be used and the other is dangerous. It would appear that the former wide and beautiful Sandbar Road Beach has been robbed of about 1,500 cubic yards of beach sand over the last few years. When will the D.E.P. and others understand the beach area damage that they are allowing or supporting?"
